Degrees Offered

Note: Note: You may apply to more than one program. For each program to which you apply, you must complete a separate application, pay a separate application fee, and submit separate supporting documents.

The time over which a student is expected to earn a graduate degree varies by academic program. Please consult the document Expected Time-to-Degree for UCI Doctoral Students to view the expected time-to-degree for the program in which you are interested.

  1. Ed.D. = Doctor of Education; M.A. = Master of Arts; M.A.S. = Master of Advanced Study; M.A.T. = Master of Arts in Teaching; M.F.A. = Master of Fine Arts; M.S. = Master of Science; M.B.A. = Master of Business Administration; M.D. = Doctor of Medicine; M.U.R.P. = Master of Urban and Regional Planning; Ph.D. = Doctor of Philosophy. Titles of degrees may not correspond exactly with specific fields of study offered; see the Index and the academic unit sections for information.
  2. Emphasis is on study leading to the Ph.D. degree; the M.S. degree may be awarded to Ph.D. students after fulfillment of the appropriate requirements. However, students may apply directly to the M.S. concentration in Biotechnology.
  3. Emphasis is on study leading to the Ph.D. degree; the master's degree may be awarded to Ph.D. students after fulfillment of the appropriate requirements.
  4. In addition to the regular M.S. degree program, a program coordinated with the Department of Education leads to an M.S. degree and a Teaching Credential.
  5. UCI, UCR, and UCSD joint program.
  6. UCI and UCSD joint program.
  7. Emphasis at the graduate level is on study leading to the Ph.D. degree; the M.A. degree may be awarded to Ph.D. students after fulfillment of the appropriate requirements. However, students may apply directly to the M.A. program in Social Science with a concentration in Demographic and Social Analysis; the M.A. program in Social Science with a concentration in Mathematical Behavioral Sciences is also available to applicants who are in a Ph.D. program at another institution.
  8. UCI and California State University Fullerton joint program.
  9. Accredited Clinical Laboratory Scientist Program leading only to a state license. No degree awarded.
  10. An interdisciplinary program administered by the schools of Engineering and Information & Computer Science.
Warning! Important Note!

Although UCI is authorized to grant the following GRADUATE degrees, admission to these programs is not currently available: Business Administration, M.B.P.A.; Comparative Culture, M.A., M.A.T., Ph.D.; Public Administration, M.B.P.A., M.P.A
