Graduate Resource Center
Serving UCI's Graduate and Professional Students and Postdoctoral Scholars
UC Irvine’s Graduate Resource Center exists to enrich the experiences of our graduate and postdoc community by providing coordinated services, events, programs, information and support. The GRC also serves as a meeting place for students to relax, interact with other students, plan events, share ideas, network and develop friendly relationships.
The GRC is located in Room C114 of the UC Irvine Student Center (Level 1, next to NACS@StudentCenter computer lab). Click here for a map and directions from Ring Road.
Hours of operation: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday

Workshops and Tutorials
The Graduate Resource Center offers a wide variety of personal and professional development opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. These events are posted on the Graduate Division Calendar of Events.
The GRC also sponsors writing workshops throughout the academic year. Two graduate student peer advisors have been hired to help present workshops, and to provide group and individual writing tutorials.
Due to high demand, we encourage students to schedule an appointment with our writing tutors by calling 949-824-3849.
Drop-in writing tutorial services are offered during the following days/times. However, it may be necessary to wait if tutors are not immediately available.

The Graduate International Mentoring Program
A new pilot program designed to support the often-difficult transitions of new incoming international graduate students was successfully initiated this academic year, and plans for expansion are underway. The Graduate International Mentoring Program helps support the orientation of new international students to the UC Irvine Campus by linking them to an established graduate student who has volunteered to mentor them.
Assistance and support ranges from helping students negotiate the challenges of setting up housekeeping in a whole new world, to providing academic and social support. The mentors will draw from their own experiences, and provide encouragement, guidance, and constructive feedback to help new international students thrive both personally and professionally.
The social networking program Facebook was utilized to form an electronic community that supplemented the face-to-face connections.
This year the program has matched 14 mentors with 68 mentees from 22 countries and across 21 academic programs. When fully operational, the program expects to provide mentorship for up to 300 international students.
For information about the program, please contact Bill Zeller, Director of the Center for Graduate and Professional Student and Postdoctoral Scholars, at wzeller@uci.edu.
