How to Fund Your Graduate Education
Most Ph.D. students at UCI are supported by a combination of fellowships, teaching assistantships, research assistantships and faculty training grants. Because student funding is coordinated at the departmental level, be sure to ask your department about your options.
Master’s students are typically self-supported but may be eligible for these resources. Check with the individual department/program for Master’s degree funding opportunities.
The Graduate Division also offers an array of financial support resources, such as fellowship competitions open to incoming and current UCI students, and funding workshops and writing tutors available through the Graduate Resource Center.
Graduate Extramural Support Office
The Graduate Division provides additional guidance for students who want to identify and pursue extramural funding opportunities – often national, generous and highly prestigious awards that strengthen the fellow’s ability to succeed in an increasingly competitive global arena.
The Graduate Extramural Support Office serves as a hub of information on extramural fellowships and as a liaison between UCI and extramural funding agencies, such as the National Science Foundation. The office also serves as a coordinating point for faculty seeking support as they apply for training grants.
