Newly Admitted Students

Congratulations on being admitted to the University of California, Irvine. The following list details the steps you must take to be officially enrolled as a graduate student.

Things to Do After You've Been Admitted

  1. Complete the Statement of Intent to Register online. To log into the SIR site, use your new Student ID # and numeric password that were included in the "Congratulations from UCI" email message you should have received confirming your admission offer.
  2. Activate your UCInetID. Follow the link and select "Student Applicants" from the Activate page. If you were previously a student or employee at UCI, you will retain your existing UCINetID and you do not need to reactivate it.
  3. Complete and submit the Statement of Legal Residence form. For more information, visit UCI's Office of the Registrar. To log into the SLR site, use your new Student ID # and numeric password that were included in the "Congratulations from UCI" email message you should have received confirming your admission offer. Do not use your Application ID Number when logging into the SLR site.
  4. Visit the Housing Office website to learn about housing options. Complete and submit the Graduate Student Housing Application.
  5. Complete and submit the Financial Support Application (FAFSA). Foreign students do not need to complete the FAFSA.
  6. International students who need an F-1 or J-1 Visa should complete a CIAQ financial verification form (available from department) and submit it to the department.
  7. Complete and submit a Fellowship Acceptance form.
  8. Meet the conditions of your Provisional Admission.
  9. Enroll in classes - New graduate students may enroll in classes beginning June 17, 2009.
  10. Pay fees.
  11. Learn about Graduate Student Health Insurance - GSHIP.
  12. Notify the Graduate Division at GradAdmissionsQuestions@uci.edu of an address change prior to the third week of classes.
  13. After arriving on campus, get your Student I.D. card.
  14. After arriving on campus international students must report to the International Center at UCI to comply with US government requirements.
