Funding Opportunities
Introduction
Post-doctoral fellows are eligible for funding from a myriad of extramural and internal sources. Internal sources of funding should be personally discussed with the faculty principal investigator with whom you expect to work. For a listing of current positions available, you will need to visit the UCI school or department of your academic and research interest. Additionally, various extramural sources exist which you are strongly encouraged to pursue on your own with the support of your faculty principal investigator.
Internal Sources
UCI funded post-doctoral opportunities should be coordinated with the faculty principal investigator you plan to work with, however; this effort can be augmented by checking our most current listing of post-doc positions. In addition, UCI also offers special post-doctoral opportunities owing to our University of California status. The University of California President's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program was established in 1984 to encourage outstanding women and other disadvantaged Ph.D. recipients to pursue academic careers at the University of California. The current President's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is open to all qualified candidates who are committed to university careers in research, teaching, and service; and who will enhance the diversity of the academic community at the University of California.
For fellows in the Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and the Professions, the program will prefer candidates whose research emphasizes issues such as diversity, multi-culturalism particular communities underserved by traditional academic research efforts. For fellows in Math, Engineering, Life Science and Physical Science, the program will prefer candidates who have historically participated in teaching, mentoring or outreach programs that promote educational opportunities for underrepresented students in higher education.
